The intertidal zone is the area where the sea and the land meet. It is submerged by the sea water when the tide rises, and emerges from the water when the tide recedes. The ecology of the intertidal zone is a miracle of life, and those organisms that inhabit this area must have special adaptations to cope with the changing tides and environment. You will be led by a professional ecology instructor and use telescopes to search for small creatures unique to the intertidal zone, and gain an in-depth understanding of how these creatures survive under rising and falling tides. The instructor will explain the causes of tidal phenomena and the importance of intertidal ecosystems to the surrounding environment. At low tide, you will walk on the mudflats to find and observe various small creatures for yourself, while learning about their ecology and the operation of the food chain. Waste reduction workshops aim to promote environmental protection and sustainable living, encouraging people to reuse and recycle materials to reduce waste. We hope to draw participants’ attention to environmental protection and waste reduction through their understanding of this unique ecosystem, and then encourage people to reuse and recycle materials through workshops to reduce waste.
